PROJECT UPDATE - Thursday 29 July 2021

Our contractor is now ready to proceed with works and once current restrictions are lifted you will begin to see them onsite and work start to progress. Once work has started on the ground, we will be able to share a new completion date with you and will keep you regularly updated on the progress of works.

PROJECT UPDATE - Friday 2 July 2021

We’re pleased to announce that JK Williams have been appointed as the new contractor for this Federal Government funded project.

JK Williams understand the urgency to get started on this project as soon as possible and you will see their surveyors on site over the next week.

Works to resolve the underground utility issue will be completed shortly with the new contractor making every effort to start work on the intersection upgrade before the end of July.

We understand the community’s frustration and the impact this delay had had on this critical intersection and the surrounding residents and will assist the contractor to mobilise as soon as possible.

As soon as we have an updated schedule of works we will share it with you.

PROJECT UPDATE - Friday 14 May 2021

While there hasn’t been much progress on the ground, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get this project restarted.

In April, the first phase of the project was temporarily stopped and we’ve now advertised the tender for the works contract and will provide you with an updated schedule as soon as it’s available to us.

In the meantime, we are progressing with the necessary underground utility portion beneath the intersection to progress with pavement works and you will start to see work commence on retaining walls.

We’re really disappointed about this delay as we understand the impact altering this critical connection point is having on so many of you.

We will keep you informed of any progress.

PROJECT UPDATE - Tuesday 20 April 2021

We are eager to restart works on the Raby Road/Eagle Vale Drive intersection upgrade and are meeting with the current contractor to plan their exit so that we can progress the underground utility works. We’re equally frustrated about this delay as we understand the impact this is having on so many of you. We are moving quickly to go out to tender in the coming weeks to engage a new contractor to complete the rest of the works and will advise the updated schedule once the new contractor is on board.

PROJECT UPDATE - Tuesday 16 March 2021

There is some major infrastructure running beneath the intersection of Eagle Vale Drive that we need the utility authority to review before works can proceed. We will let you know as soon as we have an update.

Upgrades to the Eagle Vale Drive and Spitfire Drive intersections of Raby Road will soon begin.

  • New traffic lights at the intersection of Spitfire Drive/Raby Road
  • Installing new shared footpaths
  • Widening the road for slip lanes for Eagle Vale Drive to Raby Road (North) and Raby Road to Eagle Vale Drive (West)
  • Pedestrian crossing facilities at traffic signals
  • Landscaping along roadside and central median

Timing of works

From 30 September 2020 to 1 December 2021.

Construction Hours

7am-5pm, Monday to Friday and 7am-2pm, Saturdays, weather permitting. We will let you know in advance if we need to do any work outside these times.

    Media Release - 19 November 2020

Work has started on a major upgrade to the intersections of Spitfire Drive and Eagle Vale Drive on Raby Rd.

The $7million project is funded by the Federal Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan which aims to support population growth and access across the region.

    Features of the upgrade include:

    • Replacement of the Eagle Vale Drive/Raby Rd roundabout with traffic lights
    • New traffic lights at the intersection of Raby Rd and Spitfire Drive.
    • Construction of a new shared pathway for pedestrians and cyclists
    • New slip lanes for Eagle Vale Drive to Raby Rd (north) and Raby Rd to Eagle Vale Drive (west)
    • Extending the retaining wall along Raby Rd
    • Landscaping and tree planting on the corner of Eagle Vale Drive and Raby Rd

Mayor George Brticevic said Raby Rd is a major arterial connection to the Hume Highway for residents from Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region.

“These upgrades will ensure more efficient and safer traffic flow on a road which has become an important connection for many people across the region travelling to work via the Hume Highway,” Cr Brticevic said.

“This upgrade is another step in ensuring our local road network assists with access into and across our city and the greater Macarthur region providing improved connection to the health, education and commercial services we have to offer,” he said.

“New tree plantings on the corner of Raby Rd and Eagle Vale Drive will also enhance the visual appeal of the area and reflect the pride residents have in their local community.”

The upgrades were identified as part of a traffic, safety and scoping study conducted by Council for the Raby Rd precinct which was also funded by the Local Roads Package and responds to feedback received by Council from the community about traffic congestion in key connections across the City.

The upgrades are scheduled for completion by December next year.
