Consultation has concluded
Queen Street is at the heart of our city centre. It’s the main pedestrian spine weaving together our civic, cultural, community and business lives. From Cordeaux to Dumaresq Street encompassing the central plaza of Lithgow Street, it’s about to be the focus of an ambitious program to test some of your great ideas.
You’ve been loud and clear in telling us what needs to be done. When we engaged about the Reimagining Campbelltown City Centre Master Plan, the revitalisation of Queen Street emerged as one of the central themes.
We acknowledge and respect that the activities taking place as part of On Q will be on Dharawal Country and celebrating Campbelltown’s rich Aboriginal culture and history will be incorporated over the duration of the project.
Your big ideas for Queen Street were
• Attract residents and workers to Queen Street through amenity upgrades which protect its human scale, create great public domain and include street trees.
• Showcase our cultural diversity by creating a Spice Lane, café, bar and restaurant precinct offering food from around the world.
• Activate Queen Street throughout the day and night to create an 18 hour economy and improve safety.
Testing some ideas
From November 2020 to October 2021, we will put these ideas into action for you to trial.
Wider footpaths
Re-orientated parking bays
Shared space for vehicles and cyclists
Trees and vertical gardens
Stalls and markets
Public art
Live music
Outdoor dining
Get involved
There will be plenty of opportunity to get involved and let us know your thoughts. This is your chance to test, review and refine some ideas for our city. Make sure you come back to this page for regular updates to find out how you can get involved and key dates for community activations.
This project is being funded by the NSW Government through the Streets as Shared Spaces grants.
