Background

We are gearing up to enhance everything Ingleburn Reserve has to offer and make it a destination place for recreational activities.

Ingleburn Reserve is on Bensley Rd, roughly 2kms east of the Ingleburn town centre. This 9.35ha riverside park has some spectacular environmental and heritage features that will be celebrated as part of this major upgrade project. It is also one of the few locations that provides clear access to the Georges River.

Our vision so far proposes a range of improvements with a focus on improving the local environment and providing a space that is warm and inviting. Initial concepts include environment works, upgrades to tracks and trails, access paths, picnic facilities, roads, parking and new reserve signage with the aim to celebrate the rich history whilst providing a place to accommodate the plants and animals that call this reserve home.

 Key design features:

· Playground upgrades

· Picnic facilities

· Accessibility in and around the reserve

· Upgrades to roads and car parks around the reserve

Major upgrades to Ingleburn Reserve are about to start.

Thank you to everyone in the community who provided feedback to help prepare the final design.

From 13 March, works will begin on the installation of more seating, picnic tables and shelters, more barbecue facilities and widening of tracks and footpath upgrades to provide accessibility for wheelchair and prams.

These works follow the opening of a new Mountain Bike Trail Loop in September last year.

There will be some disruption to existing facilities and car parking until May.

Further works are planned as part of stage 2 of the project in the future.

    9 March 2023

Major upgrades designed to enhance the local environment and amenity of Ingleburn Reserve are about to start in the next phase of the $1.5 million project.

Improvements to the riverside nature reserve have been planned and designed in response to community consultation held in 2020. The first part of the project was complete last year with the opening of a mountain bike trail loop at the reserve.

The plans include environmental improvements such as weed control and tree planting as well as upgrades to tracks and trails, access paths, picnic facilities, roads, parking and signage.

“Ingleburn Reserve is a truly special place, with an abundance of plant and natural wildlife that sits on the fringes of our city centre,” said Mayor George Greiss.

“We’ve listened to our community and are providing more opportunities for people to actively enjoy connecting with nature and improving access so that everyone can visit this adventure destination,” Cr Greiss said.

“The significant environmental enhancements will also support the biodiversity of animal and plant species that exist here, including the koalas that move through the area,” he said.

From 13 March, works will begin on the installation of more seating, picnic tables and shelters, more barbecue facilities and widening of tracks and footpath upgrades to provide accessibility for wheelchair and prams.

There will be some disruption to existing facilities and car parking until the project is complete in May.

Further works are planned as part of stage 2 of the project in the future.

    • Additional picnic facilities including BBQ facilities and shelters to provide shade
    • Clean and accessible tracks for all ages
    • More signage around the reserve

    Planned improvements include:

    • Installation of group seating shelter
    • Additional picnic tables
    • New barbecue facilities
    • Footpath upgrades including improving accessibility for wheelchair and pram access

More works are being considered for the next design phase, so stay tuned.
