Purpose of a Youth Strategy
The Youth Strategy will provide a clear direction to guide and focus the methods in which Council, service providers and the broader community support and empower our young people. The Youth Strategy seeks to:
Guide and focus the community’s collective work with and for young people
Ensure that best-practice support and services are delivered for young people
Utilise a strong evidence base to help the community better meet the needs and aspirations of our young people
Ensure that young people are actively engaged and that the community is responsive to their needs
Outline how young people will be empowered to participate in community life
What we have heard so far
Following our first phase of consultation, 6 draft key themes were identified;
OPPORTUNITIES - Young people have access to meaningful and local, skill building and employment opportunities
CONNECTION - Young people have a sense of connection and belonging to space, their peers and the wider community
SAFETY - Young people have a say in community safety measures and feel safer in Campbelltown City LGA
WELLBEING - Young people have access to information and supports available for mental and physical wellbeing
VOICE - Young people’s opinions and perspectives are sought, valued and heard
SUSTAINABILTY – Young people play a role in environmental practices and principals that contribute towards a more sustainable Campbelltown LGA
