Reimagining Campbelltown City Centre Master Plan, from Leumeah to Macarthur, embodies Campbelltown City Council's commitment to leadership in the region by taking decisive action and a game-changing approach to planning for the city's future growth and prosperity.

We are leading the way to proactively plan for and capitalise on the opportunities that come with extensive growth, while responsibly considering, conserving and enhancing the historic and natural assets that make our city unique.

We see a future that takes full advantage of Campbelltown’s geographical location and embraces its history, while celebrating the opportunities that modernisation offers. We have engaged with community, industry and Government to prepare an evidence-based plan that is futureproof and will transform Campbelltown’s city centre into the economic, cultural and lifestyle capital of the Macarthur region, and connect the region to the world.

Developing the Master Plan

Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project involved a series of engagement events with community members and stakeholders to find out what the community most value and want to see in the future.

The community told us that they want to create a centre of opportunity across health and education to drive new jobs, no grey to be seen in and around the city centre and want to create ‘the good life’ a diverse city we are proud of.

You will see in the Master Plan that these key items have been addressed:

  • The Master Plan could provide more than three times as many jobs per hectare as there was in 2016, boosting collaboration and driving economic growth.
  • The Master Plan could increase the tree canopy cover from 6% of the City Centre to 40%.
  • The Master Plan will deliver vibrant and liveable neighbourhoods.

Underpinned by a people-centered perspective, the Master Plan brings together an evidence-based methodology, with an understanding of the importance of place to unlock the potential of Campbelltown City Centre.

Reimagining Campbelltown City Centre, delivered together with the Greater Sydney Commission’s Campbelltown-Macarthur Place Strategy, harnesses the passion, knowledge and aspirations of the Campbelltown community, industry, stakeholders and Government agencies to shape the future of the city.

The Reimagining Campbelltown City Centre Master Plan(44MB, PDF) is a lengthy document, it takes time to digest. We have also prepared a Summary Document(14MB, PDF) to assist. Be sure to come back, share your thoughts and ask questions, share it with family and friend and help us to celebrate Campbelltown and all of the opportunities that our exciting future presents.
