The Town Hall Theatre is a valued cultural facility within the Campbelltown region, regularly utilised by locally arts and cultural groups for performing arts activities.

As part of Council’s endorsed Creative Campbelltown 2024–2030 Cultural Strategy, the vision is for Campbelltown to be a vibrant and thriving community where arts, culture, and creativity enrich lives, empower individuals, and play a vital role in the city’s growth. The strategy is guided by four key focus areas: identity, creativity, experience, and the creative economy. Within this framework, Council recognises the Town Hall Theatre as a significant cultural landmark, an historic venue that has long served as a hub for arts and community activity. It has provided a platform for residents, particularly arts and theatre makers and audiences, and has played a key role in nurturing young and emerging talent in the region.

At the Council meeting held on 9 July 2024, Council assumed management of the Town Hall Theatre. As part of this transition, a comprehensive review of hire fees and conditions was undertaken. New fees and charges, effective from 1 July 2025, were introduced to reflect operational costs and maintain venue standards. This has presented financial challenges for not-for-profit organisations particularly those without access to external funding or commercial revenue streams.

In response to community feedback, Council has conducted a further review to ensure equitable access for locally based arts and cultural organisations. To support this objective, it is proposed that the Community Halls discount rate of 50 per cent be extended to eligible groups hiring the Town Hall Theatre. The concession applies exclusively to the hire of the venue for half-day or full-day bookings. All other costs including cleaning, technical, and additional services will be charged a the standard rates.
