Council, at its meeting on 12 August 2025, resolved to exhibit the Draft Policy for the Payment of Expenses and the Provision of Facilities for the Mayor and Councillors with amendments to a number of provisions of the policy.
Detailed below are the main proposed changes to the policy and are included in the attached draft for exhibition:
- Update to position titles.
- Inclusion of definition of a year to clarify the start and end of annual expense periods.
- Amendment of the conference provisions to separate from other professional development activities.
- Inclusion of the Australian Local Government National General Assembly as an entitlement excluded from the conference cap in addition to the LGNSW Annual conference.
- Consolidation of the existing cancellation policy provisions into a new updated cancellation policy clause.
- Inclusion of the Councillor portal into relevant clauses to reflect current practice.
- Increase the maximum value of mobile phones per term to reflect the increasing cost of technology.
- Revise the maximum value of the Mayoral vehicle to align with Council’s fleet policy and equivalence with CEO/Executive General Manager/ Director roles.
