Have your say on the draft Flying Fox Camp Management Plans
In the Campbelltown Local Government Area we have two Grey-headed flying fox camps, one of which is located in close proximity to residential properties at Bingara Reserve, Macquarie Fields and the other in Campbelltown.
Actions
Our proposed management actions:
Community engagement including education, advice and feedback programs
Restore the endangered ecological community River-flat Eucalypt Forest at the campsite to improve overall amenity while conserving flying-fox habitat
Investigate options to reduce the impacts of heat stress on flying foxes
Develop planning controls to manage future land use pressure and potential impacts to flying foxes
Investigate measures to improve overall aesthics of the waterway
Provide future guidance for Council works in close proximity to colonies.
Investigate a residential assistance program to help address issues with noise, odour and faeces drop and problem plant species associated with living adjacent to a GHFF camp
Assessment of buffers adjacent to residential properties and investigating the install of physical buffers (not involving vegetation removal) such as sprinklers and tree planting
Following completion of the exhibition period, all feedback received will be reported to Council for consideration and endorsement.
