Get involved in improving access in Campbelltown

Campbelltown residents are being called on to help develop Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022-2026 by taking part in a series of online workshops for the community, disability and business sectors over the next week.

The DIAP outlines the strategies and actions that Council will take over the next four years to develop accessible and inclusive environments for people with disability.

An initial engagement survey completed by 70 community members found 49 per cent of people wanted to see more accessible public facilities.

Over the past four years, significant strides have been taken in improving accessibility across the city, including the building of a new inclusive playground at Variety Livvi’s Place Glenfield, quiet hours at several community events and a new Australia Day Award to recognise the contribution of people with disability.

However, Council recognises the need to continue moving forward and taking actions that will improve accessibility within Council facilities and services as well as working alongside the business and community sectors to facilitate wider change.

These workshops are an opportunity for people living with disability, carers, service providers, business owners or any community member to highlight existing gaps and help make Campbelltown more inclusive and accessible.

Community Member Sessions:

• 21 February 5.30pm to 7pm
• 22 February 10am until 11.30pm

Disability Sector Session:

• 23 February from 12.30pm until 2pm

Business Session:

• 28 February 5.30pm until 7pm
