Campbelltown City Council is refreshing the membership of its Local Planning Panel (the Panel). The role of the Panel is to determine various applications for development, including applications of high value, corruption risk, sensitivity or strategic importance and to provide advice on planning proposals. Each Panel meeting will consist of three independent experts and one community representative, with the Panel membership rotating between representatives.

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from eligible representatives from the local community to fill the community representative position and alternate community representative position(s) on the Panel. Your role as a Panel member would be a part-time, paid role starting in July 2021. The position would be paid in accordance with rates to be set by the NSW Government.

Membership of the Panel is for up to three years. The Panel is scheduled to meet on a monthly basis. Councillors, property developers and real estate agents are ineligible to be Panel members.

Selection Criteria

Applicants for community representative position will be evaluated based on demonstrated experience, understanding of local issues and service to the Campbelltown community. All applicants must demonstrate a sound knowledge of panel processes and their ability to adhere to Code of Conduct and Operational Procedures.

The selection criteria for member positions on the Panel include:

  • be current residents within the Campbelltown local government area (LGA)
  • have knowledge and awareness of the LGA and issues of concern to the local community
  • be able to represent and communicate the interests of the local community
  • have an understanding of the planning process and assessment issues (but not expected to be experts)
  • commit to attending the Panel meetings and contributing constructively to the determination of applications
  • be willing to adhere to the Panel code of conduct and operational procedures.

How to Apply

To lodge an Expression of Interest, please complete and submit the Panel Nomination Form and attach a supporting letter and current CV.

You may also make a submission in writing, your application should be titled “EOI – Community Member Position on Local Planning Panel”, and is to be addressed to the General Manager and sent by mail to Campbelltown City Council, PO Box 57, Campbelltown NSW 2560
