Beats and Eats On Q

Bring the family down or get together with friends to grab a bite to eat from a local restaurant and enjoy some music at the Lithgow Street Mall on Saturday 29 May 2021.

Beats and Eats is a chance to celebrate the magnificent cultural diversity of our community.

Held at our rejuvenated Lithgow Street On Q event space, music lovers will enjoy a range of interactive cultural street performances, including a dance performance and a contemporary DJ set. Sign up for one of our free and exciting drumming workshops for your chance to perform in an interactive drum off between groups.

For the foodies, experience flavours of traditional cuisines from around the world made available from our local Afghan, Vietnamese, Lebanese, Thai and Chinese restaurants in Queen Street and surrounds.

We have a line-up of exciting activities and great entertainment for everyone to enjoy:

Takeaway food specials – 5pm until 9pm

On the night, you will have access to a Beats and Eats printed ‘food guide’ with a map showcasing the takeaway meal specials available from participating restaurants and eateries within the Queen Street precinct.

Grab your meal deal and head back to our outdoor pop up public eatery space featuring additional café style seating throughout the Lithgow Street Mall.

Music and Entertainment – 5pm until 9pm

From 5pm South West Sydney DJ Leo Tanoi (a.k.a DJ Black President) will be hosting the evening and providing the soundtrack in between performances.

Starting at 5.30pm local groups Wadaiko Rindo, Manea Pacifica, Suara Indonesian Dance Group perform cultural dancing and drumming performances in the Lithgow Street Mall.

Drumming Workshops – 7pm until 7.30pm

Book in to one of three exciting drumming workshops, to run between 7pm until 7.30pm before coming together for an interactive drum off between groups. Workshops have limited numbers and bookings are essential.

Wadaiko Rindo Japanese drum ensemble, is renowned for energetic and dynamic drumming performances. These performances are spectacular visual displays of stamina, strength and humour, with the vibrations produced on stage energising the whole audience.

Manea Pacifica are Internationally acclaimed Cook Island dancers and drummers. The organisation was first established in 2012 by former International Cook Islands Dance Champions Jasmine Samuel-Mata and Raven Nicholls. They have built a reputation through feature performances on Channel 9, Fox Sports and during festivals celebrating the Pacific Community.

Suara Indonesian Dance Group have performed and conducted workshops all around the world. With a blend of traditional and contemporary influences from their Indonesian heritage and Australian upbringing, Suara Indonesia Dance Group present an energetic mix of music, dance, body percussion, and song.

COVID-19 safe practices will be in place at this event

In line with COVID-19 restrictions on outdoor public gatherings, if you are feeling unwell or you are in mandatory isolation, we ask that you stay home and not attend Beats and Eats.

• COVID-19 Safe Hygiene Marshals will be present to encourage 1.5m physical distancing between family groups and to confirm you have completed the check-in
• We encourage you to download the Service NSW app to facilitate an easy check-in when you arrive at our Lithgow Street On Q event space
• Use the camera on your mobile phone to scan the QR code on the signs provided
• Once the event space is at capacity, entry to the event will no longer be permitted
• Keep an eye out on our Events in Campbelltown and Campbelltown City Council Facebook pages for updates regarding event capacity.
